Onsen (Hot Springs)
There are six hot spring sources.
Some are mixed (hot water from multiple sources combined together as one) and some have water added to cool them.
Kawakami Onsen, which boasts a plentiful volume of spring water, is a simple spring ranging in temperature from 57.2℃ - 60.2℃.
The waters are effective for dealing with neuralgia, muscle aches, joint pain, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis,
stiff joints, bruises and sprains, chronic digestive disorders, hemorrhoids, sensitivity to cold,
recovery from illness or fatigue, and generally improving health.
Enjoy bathing in our Hito Bannin-buro where water falls from up high into the bath,
the Hanten Gankutsu-buro, a semi-cave, semi-open-air bath carved into bedrock, the Asunaro-buro, or our Kazoku-buro (family bath).
All of our baths are kakenagashi-type, which means the naturally-heated water flows in directly from the source,
unlike the water that flows from a faucet in your home where you can adjust the temperature.
We hope you will enjoy this feature as one of the gifts of nature.
The source of the Hanten Gankutsu-buro is a natural welling hot spring,
but because the water at the source is extremely hot, we add cold water at the source.
The water that flows into the Bannin-buro is a mixture of hot water from four different hot spring sources.
Even then the water is hot, so we use tap water to adjust the temperature of the bath.
The taps at Kawakami Onsen use natural spring water.
